I have been delighted to offer pregnancy and labor massage since 2004 when I obtained a specialization certification in prenatal, perinatal and postpartum massage. I have also been providing labor assistance as a birth doula since 2007.
Massages are provided in the comfort of your own home or office and are customized to your individual health needs and goals.
Pregnancy Massage
Specialized massage techniques enhance the rapidly changing pregnant woman's comfort, health and enjoyment of her pregnancy. Studies show that women receiving pregnancy massage experience decreased levels of anxiety and stress hormones during pregnancy, improved mood, better sleep, less back and leg pain, and fewer obstetric and perinatal complications including fewer premature births.
Birth Doula Services
Massage therapy during childbirth has also been shown to reduce the need for pain medication as well as decrease the length of labor, hospital stay and postpartum depression.
In addition to emotional support and encouragement, the assistance that I provide during labor and delivery includes massage and suggestions for positional changes to address specific needs during labor and delivery as well as assistance with obtaining/understanding information from the medical staff. I also encourage birth partners to have an active role in labor and make suggestions on how they can best assist the laboring mother.
