At the CranioSacral and Massage Center, Inc. I gravitate towards a more therapeutic treatment; enabling the body to heal and repair by releasing tension and restrictions in contracted muscles and restricted fascia. The released muscle can then elongate and is no longer pulling on the boney landmarks it's attached to, which caused pain, discomfort and dysfunction in the first place.
I have been trained in CranioSacral Therapy by the Upledger Institute and more recently sought training with John F. Barnes for Myofascial Release Therapy. I incorporate both these modalities into my treatments, while always being open to the subtle messages the body sends to guide me through the treatment.
Bodywork is very effective in treating chronic neck, shoulder, and back issues. It relieves headaches, migraines, sinus problems, ear imbalances and can even release the tense muscles in the neck that can cause snoring, sleep apnea and TMJ. People who have 'bad backs' are usually quite surprised at how effective therapeutic massage can be in alleviating the strains and constant ache they thought they had to live with.
Bodywork benefits every body. It increases blood flow, improves circulation, it releases restrictions, and allows our bodies to function at it's optimum, to live comfortably and heal as it was meant to.
One of my goals is to educate people about muscles and their bodies, so I host health talks at local libraries, malls and places of employment, senior centers, retirement communities and anywhere that I am invited!
