Each individual receiving massage is as unique as the therapist giving.  I encourage you to search out the therapist and treatment that is right for you and your personal needs.  Sometimes these needs change.  Injuries heal, painfull areas alternate due to lifestyle and emotional changes.  Your relationship with your therapist should be dynamic allowing for movement encouraging health and wellbeing.

Traditionally in the United States swedish table massage is the most familiar style of massage therapy.  Used for relaxation and pain relief swedish massage is what many people associate with the term massage.  There are so many other styles and variations the names can be overwhelming or confusing. 

What style/therapy is best for you? 

Most massage therapists are trained in table massage and are able to use deep pressure to work out muscle tension.  If unsure as the style of massage you want request a table massage.  During the session you will be able to decide if you enjoy how the massage therapist works and get an idea of his/her style.  Afterwards the therapist may suggest what other styles they feel will work best for you such as heat from hot stones or stretching and pressure points from shiatsu or Thai massage for your next session.
